SIT REP 1 November 2006
Today's news is that the govt is currently trying to pull together a meeting between all parties, with Charlie and Jim being the Pandanus representatives. Charlie reminded me that this License breaks new ground and there have been sticking points for all parties, not just us. He said that the govt and Aboriginals are also very keen to have it all stitched up, hopefully at this next meeting. Charlie will let us know when the meeting is on. He and Jim will report back to us all and then.....?

SIT REP 31 October 2006
From the Rose

FIRST UP
Remember, all the people who are seen to do stuff, they are volunteers, doing what they can, where they can, fitting it in around the ups and downs of their own life and health. Where you see something that could be done, or done better, please put your hand up to do it or to help. Having reminded you and me both of that, let’s get into it.

INCORPORATION
That last update was a doozy. They meant well for Pandanus, but crikey - Jim's email caused quite a stir. In Pandanus Park, folk demanded to know why they hadn’t known about the June incorporation meeting, so that they could have nominated to participate.

No-one outside of the meeting attendees knew of it, and I am told that copies of the Model Rules and Constitution were not made available to the nominated committee members for preview and amendment. The Model Rules and Constitution were apparently prepared by the solicitor recommended by the Queensland Government, obviously with inadequate briefing and checking.

Hopefully the copies supplied in July are drafts: numerous people pointed out that there's no provision for democracy: there's no details of joining, nor an AGM, etc etc, and the meaning of "veteran " has been incorrectly redefined. The task obviously needs the collective Pandanus mind to establish it properly for posterity. There were several volunteers in Pandanus Park, and I am sure there are others who have expertise in this field – come on – it’s your turn to help.

(Thanks to Old Fred for his constitution input via snail mail; I'll scan it and send it thru to the incorporation team.)

Political meeting, Pandanus Park 16 August 2006

Remember: Pandanus Park Inc has been created solely to meet the legalities associated with the License. Those wishing to join PPInc and/or contribute to its establishment, email direct to Jim Irvine and Noel Iszlaub. Jim and Noel are also members of our mc2 Forum and receive copies of all postings to it. Dutchy is currently recovering from an accident (yes, he’s doing well) and will then be getting into his post-Larry rebuilding; he does not have a computer at present.

Once the Model Rules and Constitution are A-OK with you all, then PPInc can step back totally except for their AGM and Annual Audit, and the odd occasion the govt wants a formal signature. The committee you have when you’re not having a committee…. Now that’s more like it, eh….
.

WHAT ABOUT THE LICENSE?
With incorporation now registered, the License is only waiting on the inclusion of all the agreed amendments (as per the 2005 meetings in Brisbane, Cairns, Pandanus Park and Cooktown). This means the Pandanus Veterans have done all that was required of them at this stage.

SO WHAT DO WE ALL DO NOW?
Same old, same old: hurry up and wait awhile. We wait for the amended License and, when all is correct, the formal signing.

WHEN?
Geoff and I are again communicating direct with Charlie Brown. When we hear something, you hear it.

HOW WILL YOU KNOW?
Whenever it happens, I’ll post it here and then post an alert on the Forum. Join the Forum and you will automatically receive that alert. Or to be added to the Pandanus mailing list, email your service and contact details here.

TODAY
Right now, there is absolutely nothing further for Australia's veterans to gain if it happens sooner rather than later. Pandanus Park is on the map. And our sacred site guarantees entry. It’s business as usual for Pandanus Park.

IN THE MEANTIME…
What can you do to help firmly establish PPInc?
